NEW! Renowned American flute player MATT EAKLE will perform before a score by CHRISTOPHER HEDGE, prior to the screening of WATER FOR LIFE. Molly Chappellet commissioned Matt Eakle in 2018 to accompany her art installation for Auction Napa Valley. Christopher Hedge created a giant surround sound system in the valley for the performance at Meadowood.
About the film:
Winner of the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Mill Valley Film Festival, “Water for Life” is a beautifully shot, engrossing documentary about the fight for water rights in Latin American communities. This documentary tells the story of three extraordinary individuals: Berta Cáceres, ( Honduras); Francisco Pineda,(El Salvador); and Alberto Curamil (Chile). All refused to let government supported industries and transnational corporations take their water and redirect it to mining, hydroelectric projects or large-scale agriculture. Spanish w/English subtitles

Matt Eakle is an American flute player and author who has been the flutist for the David Grisman Quintet since 1989. He plays jazz, blues, and classical flute. He has performed with Jerry Garcia, Stéphane Grappelli, Vassar Clements, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Tony Rice, as well as with various symphony orchestras around the world. In 2018, Molly Chappellet commissioned Matt to accompany her art installation with Composer/Sound Designer Christopher Hedge, for Auction Napa Valley.
