The Billion Dollar movie of the summer! Since 1959, kids have dreamed of living in Barbie's world. Now the doll with it all is heading to the real world. Vividly brought to life by writer/director Greta Gerwig and co-written by Noah Baumbach, BARBIE is the neon pink, existential examination of the ubiquitous toy that we never knew we needed. It’s gorgeous, glamorous, hilarious, and far more profound than it has any right to be.
Barbie (Margot Robbie) has the perfect life. Every day is the best day ever, her boyfriend Ken (Ryan Gosling) is gorg (even if he does beach off with Ken a little too much), and her friends Barbie, Barbie, and Barbie are perfect. So why is it that she has this nagging feeling that everything is a little off? A little…fake? In order to learn the truth of the world, she’ll have to go where no Barbie has gone before – the real world. Not everyone wants Barbie out of the box though, so she’ll have to fight for her newfound freedom or head back to the dream world forever.
